Privatefolio is a portfolio tracker for crypto (so far). A major differentiator from the competition, is that Privatefolio is a product and not a service. It runs on the user’s device and there is no server (although for some premium features, that might change). The user brings in the compute and disk space and we bring the software. This product is enabled by 3 recent innovations: 1. IndexedDB, its specification was made public in 2015. In the following years browsers implemented it and now you can store more than 5MB in a webapp. 2. Lightweight-charts, a free charting engine built by TradingView, introduced plugins 4 months ago, making it extremely convenient to build custom financial charts that are performant and feature-packed. 3. Smartphones have gotten super fast, to the point where it makes more sense to compute locally than in the cloud.
